Showcasing a Unique French Mahogany boxed Equinoctial Dial. Featuring a silvered compass face with folding center needle-gnomom. The compass card is marked every degree, with larger ticks every 5 degrees, and labeled (Arabic numerals) in 10 degree increments. Half-blued steel needle on Ruby pivot. Stylized arrow indicating North. Silvered brass equinoctial ring. 'O' on East indicates likely German or French origin. This piece is especially interesting for its relatively larger size, allowing for greater accuracy and ease of use. Unsigned, circa 1800.
