Elaborate, hand-made raised leather daguerreotype album by Henry Altemus Company. This leather bound tintype album features a raised leather cover with gothic design, 8 porcelain knobs, original hand-etched latch closures, and gilded detail work. Its defining, scarcely seen title page dates this piece to 1862. This early editions' evident lack of publishing date contributes significantly to its provenance, as all Henry Altemus Company editions began including publishing dates in early 1863. 

Includes a blank Index Page, an original carte-de-visites of Abraham Lincoln by the Matthew Brady, a scarce daguerreotype of America’s first 17 Presidents, along with various photographs taken by esteemed American photographers such as Matthew Brady, A. Rankin, T.R. Burnham, L.J. Randall, and more. Five empty photo spaces throughout. Sold as is.
