Pair of French Onate Terrestrial & Celestial Globes. From the 1761 publication of 'Atlas Méthodique et Elémentaire de Géographie et d'Histoire. Dedié a Monsieur le President Hénault par Atlas Historique et Geographique' by Claude Buy de Mornas (Volume 1). An atlas focused primarily on "the historical development of cosmography, geology, astronomy, oceanography, winds, streams, etc."
Constructed via copper plate printing, with later hand-colouring, these globes feature a rococo style, on ornate stands with whimsical detail. Engraved by esteemed Augustin de Saint-Aubin (graveur francais) & François-Nicolas Martinet.
Professionally framed in matching antique Birch frames, with rich forest green matting. Globes were printed on rich, thick, cotton-blend paper. Signatures visible, 'Jaffiné at Gravé' (Aubin-graveur français), par Martinet (François-Nicolas Martinet).
Sourced from The Portobello Print & Map Shop in London, England. Accompanying signed Certificate's of Authenticity are attached to back of frames. Overall good condition. Please note- Celestial Globe has two visible spots over text (see photos).
