A unique geared tellurian by Jan Felkl & Son. Made in Pradue, circa 1890. An incredible astronomical demonstration device; Geared so that the earth revolves around the sun to demonstrate various principles of astronomy such as seasons and eclipses. Having a three-inch terrestrial globe turning at the end of a cast-iron arm, with a wooden representation of the moon revolving around the earth- a candle in the brass holder is lit to cast light representing the sun, above a round disc with engraved paper calendar and zodiac, on an ornate, cast-iron base.
