Rare, solid brass Compound Monocular Microscope by Watson & Son, London. This early model (circa 1876-1879) is unnumbered. Originally used by medical students for it's portability, this microscope can be disassembled and stored inside it's box for field assembly. Included with original Mahogany box, with additional optics and glass slides. Engraved 'Watson & Son; 313 High Holborn; London'. 

This compound monoscope has many adjustable features, complete with original glass lenses, concave mirror positional for critical illumination, a rotating stage plate which allows for different sample sizes, and finely tunable knobs that can adjust for the monocular sight's height, focusing resistance, coarse focus, fine focus, with interchangeable objectives (magnification). This precision instrument contains most of it’s original lacquer. Great patina.
