Napoleonic Prisoner of War Bone Ship's Model

Hand-crafted, small model boat made of bone. Popular during the Napoleonic Wars, model boats were often sculpted and sold from materials such as bone and mutton by prisoners of war. This cutter style sail ship model was purchased in London. Origin- Europe, circa early 1800's. Shadowbox included with purchase.

This ship is made of either bovine or pork bone, which were common food sources for such prisoners of the time.
