Antique original, hand-embellished 'Terrestrial Globe, Celestial Globe, & Spheres' copperplate-engraving for Bankes's New System of Geography (published in his encompassing work New and Authentic System of Universal Geography). After receiving Royal License, this was published in 1787 by Charles Cooke for the Royal Authority. This original work served as a valuable source for cartography, geography, and astronomy.

Created by Reverend Thomas Bankes, the Vicar of Dixton, Monmouthshire. Bankes was an avid traveler and popular collector of globes, maps, and prints in the latter-half of the 18th century.

This engraved print features seven unique diagrammatic spheres, with ornate celestial and  terrestrial globes. This piece is incredibly thorough, with further detail skillfully hand-colored in at the end of the process.

Professionally set in an ornate trimmed frame , with custom Royal Blue matting, and a lovely gilt trim. An enviable piece of home decor.
