Antique French Surveyors Transit

An interesting, unique custom build. This Antique French Surveyors Transit is composed of brass with German-silvered compass card with two bubble-levels, steel needle on jeweled pivot, markings every degree (numbered every 10 degrees). Compass is inscribed with 8 cardinal directions. Features two folding hooked adilades (for hanging on string). This piece is noteworthy for its relatively larger size. Intended as a Surveyors or Engineers compass. Circa early 20th century.
