This ornate solid brass oil lamp by Hinks \u0026amp; Son features a weighted, felt-lined base supporting a curved 4-arm table-stand. Flanked on both sides with detailed ribbon brass work that wrap around an inner support arm leading to round reservoir holder. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis lamp has a removable reservoir with a single-burner and articulating eyelet. Complete with its original key, hand-blown glass chimney, and outer milk-glass shade. All original glass is intact with no cracks. An extremely fine, custom-commissioned piece. Circa 1862-1865. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFounded by James Hinks (1816-1901) in Birmingham, England. His son Joseph (1840-1931) finished his apprenticeship in 1862, and the company began trading under ‘Hinks \u0026amp; Son’. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis lamp features a single burner. James \u0026amp; Joseph Hink's invented the Duplex double-burner in 1865. The use of a single burner on this very fine piece indicates this lamp pre-dates the invention of the double-burner.
